About the Event

The Birmingham Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, in conjunction with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Training Center, is conducting an 80-hour FBI Firearms Instructor Course. This course will be held March 2 – 6 & March 9 - 13, 2020 beginning at 8:00 a.m. at the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Training Center. 3500 Happy Hollow Lane, Fultondale, AL 35068 (Phone: 205-849-5246).

The tuition for this class is FREE which includes classroom supplies and handouts. 

Upon completion of this course each student will be recognized by APOSTC as a qualified firearms instructor. Upon completion of this course, instructors will be able to conduct all of their department's firearm qualifications including night/low light training, combat training. and shotgun training courses.

Requirements for passing this course include:

• A score of 90% or better on the firing range

• 85% or better on written exams

• Acceptable rating on student presentations

   

Students must possess above average shooting skills. This course is NOT designed to teach students to shoot It is designed to teach them how to teach others to shoot.

  

Pre-Qualification: Pre-Qualification will be conducted at 0800 hours on the following dates:

· January 21, 2020

· January 22, 2020

· January 30, 2020

· February 3, 2020

· February 4, 2020

· February 18, 2020

· February 19, 2020

· February 20, 2020

· February 21, 2020

You must successfully pass with 90% or better on all courses of fire and 200/300 on the Bullseye Course to complete the registration process and admitted into the class. To reserve a position for this class please contact Corporal Marcrum at 205-849-5246 or marcrumh@jccal.org to schedule the pre-qualification and RSVP online at https://www.jeffersoncountysotrainingcenter.com/ under advanced training.

Candidates will be sent copies of the courses to be fired during qualification so they can practice the courses prior to their attempt to qualify. This course is limited to 15 officers. Registration is on a first-come first-serve basis.

Each student must have a minimum of 15 Slug & 5 Buckshot (00), 150 rounds of semi-automatic, 50 rifle/sub gun ammunition for prequalification. There are no second chances during prequalification with the exception of the Bullseye course.

Equipment needed for the course;

· SERVICE WEAPONS ONLY!!

· Semi-automatic pistol, 9mm or larger, with holster and 1600 rounds of ammunition

· Department rifle or subgun (if available) with 1500 rounds of ammunition

· Department shotgun (if available)

· 100 rounds of revolver ammunition & a revolver (if available) 

· 20 rounds of 12 gauge rifled slugs, and 20 rounds of 00 buckshot

· Eye and Ear protection (complete ear coverage preferred)

· Soft body armor

· Appropriate range wear including ball cap with bill and wet weather gear

· Flashlight for night firing
